Brazil 2006

As I reflect on our mission trip to Rio, I see many things. I see a wonderful group of people joining together to serve Christ. I love each person and I loved watching each one use their gifts and talents to serve Christ.

This trip was awesome! Although there were several obstacles to over come, through praying in the Spirit, support and by praying in agreement; Jesus prevailed and a great harvest was produced. Satan was trying to quench the Holy Spirit but God prevailed. It was so awesome to see so many people touched by God. I love the verse God revealed to us before our trip.

1 Corinthians 4:20 (New King James Version)
“For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power”

This is so true, there was a wonderful lady in one of our groups who admitted to being a backslider and did not want to commit her life to Christ. She said she didn’t want to play around with God and did not think she could stay close to God and walk with Him. What a lie from satan!! I explained the Scriptures and how much Jesus loved her and died for her, but guess what? It was only words to her, she had heard them before and did not want more words and just sitting through more church stuff. I knew that only the Holy Spirit could draw her, so I asked her if she had any prayer requests. She had a few broad requests, but right before we prayed she told me she had bad headaches and right shoulder pain and could not raise her right arm. We prayed and I asked in Jesus’ name that He would heal her and reveal Himself to this wonderful lady.

Mark 6:12-13 (New King James Version)
“So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them “

You could feel the power of the Holy Spirit surround us. We are the arms and hands of Christ. After we prayed I asked her about her arm and shoulder. She raised her arm – pain gone. She jumped up raising her hands to God and praising Him! Our Deliverer our Healer and Savior. She flopped back down in the chair with tears of joy. I asked her again if she wanted to recommit her life to the Lord and Savior who just healed her. She said yes!! She didn’t come back to Christ because of me; she came back because of the power and love that Jesus revealed to her. What a wonderful example of Gods Living Word and power, and what our role is as workers for Christ. God is so awesome! Every word in the Bible is true and is inspired by God.

I could keep going and going. I thank God for the opportunity to serve Him and I thank Him for the wonderful Holy Spirit that draws and empowers each of us. What a privilege to be able to call on the precious name of Jesus and see and feel the power of His Holy Spirit working through our hands.

God Bless you all.
